Liberty Farms is a 600 + acre Certified Organic Farm with a focus on regenerative agriculture and healthy communities in the Hudson Valley

Our Farm

How We Farm

Regenerative agriculture practices

By using the natural cycles of nature, plant life, and animals we not only feed communities with healthy, organic food, we also help reverse climate change and rebuild healthy soil. Each life on the farm contributes to reclaiming acres of farmland—from our veggies, flowers, and hay to our sheep, cattle, horses, chickens, pigs, and even people.

Responsible, rotational grazing

All of our animals are on a rotational schedule that help regenerate our corner of the earth. Our poultry aerates the topsoil; our ruminants fertilize. And besides—what's more delicious than fresh pasture?

Say LOW to tilling

Tilling can disrupt the natural bugs, water levels, and healthy microbes of the soil. Our gardens incorporate a low-to-no-till practice that actually adds nutrients, holds carbon better, and lesses erosion.

A full circle

We're proud of our low-waste practices, from feeding "ugly" veggies and eggs to our pigs, and our own certified organic mulch and composting that fertilizes our hay fields and gardens.

Our Livestock and Poultry

Certified organic poultry and eggs

Our certified organic chickens are the life of our farm. Each day, their houses (tractors) are moved to fresh pasture by our staff. This gives them a bounty of the natural grasses, seeds, and bugs they need.

Certified Organic Pasture-raised hogs

Our pigs hail from the Old Spot and Tamworth breeds, and have 24/7, year-round access to pasture. Piglets are sent to forage when they're old enough, and are weened naturally. In addition to their pasture, they're given organic feed and "ugly" produce from the farm.

Organic, AWA and Grass-fed certified Cattle.

We raise mainly Red Angus cattle, with a new addition of a number of Herefords. They're also crucial to our regenerative soil efforts, as they're rotated through pastures, fertilizing as they go. They also provide fertilization for our farm's hay, which, in turn, becomes their winter feed.

Organic, AWA and Grass-fed certified Sheep.

Our sheep rotationally graze 20+ hilly acres with their guard donkey, Frank. They're shorn each year, providing us with natural, un-dyed yarn, rugs, and blankets.

Our Garden

NOFA-NY Certified Organic. Responsibly grown in the Hudson Valley.

How we grow

Fertilized by compost we make on the farm, our fields are certified organic by NOFA-NY and incorporate biodynamic and intensive growing methods. We use 0 pesticides, herbicides, or GMOs, and purchase open-pollinated seed whenever possible. Our reward is our vibrant produce that we're excited share.

Community-Supported Agriculture

What's a CSA?

Community-Supported Agriculture puts you in the position of partner with local farmers. Our customers essentially pre-pay for their veggies and eggs, and the funds go into our garden's operational costs.

Then, every week our farmers deliver the fruits of our communal labor to a convenient location for pick-up. A CSA is a direct way to be a part of the farming and environmental communities—and get the healthy, delicious food you want.

Currently, we serve Croton-on-Hudson, White Plains, Park Slope (Brooklyn), and locally out of our farmstand in Ghent. Members can choose from small, medium, and full shares, with the option to add weekly or biweekly organic mixed bouquets and eggs.
